A complete checkup will inform you as to your general state of health. It’s an important step, regardless of your situation, whether you’re concerned about certain hereditary diseases or certain symptoms you may have developed. Furthermore, early detection of certain asymptomatic illnesses, such as hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes, enables better control and effective treatment of these pathologies. That’s why it’s recommendable for everyone over the age of forty to get an annual checkup to help ward off the onset of a variety of different health problems.

Health Check and Family Medical History

During your appointment for an annual checkup, we’ll ask you to fill out a questionnaire regarding your family medical history, as this can have a significant impact on your state of health and the development of certain diseases that are often hereditary, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer and heart disease. By knowing your family history, we’ll be able to order tests that are more extensive or more specific to your situation. During your full physical exam, we’ll question you regarding the following:

  • Your personal medical history
  • Any medications you’re currently taking
  • Any known health problems, such as asthma, allergies, etc.
  • Your lifestyle habits, including diet, level of physical activity, consumption of alcohol, drugs, caffeine and tobacco, etc.
