About the Author
Dr. Martin Potter is a distinguished family doctor with over two decades of experience in both rural and urban university settings. He earned his medical degree specializing in family medicine from the Université de Montréal in 2002 and later obtained a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University in 2012. In 2019, Dr. Potter received advanced certification in Addiction Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. More recently, he completed a Graduate Microprogram in Health Sciences Expertise, further strengthening his skills in independent evaluation in medical expertise.
Throughout his career, Dr. Potter has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in addiction medicine and mental health. He established the first opioid substitution treatment clinic in the Gaspé Peninsula and played a pivotal role in developing the addiction medicine curriculum for the Family Medicine program at the Université de Montréal, where he served as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director. In 2022, Dr. Potter founded his rivate medical clinic Clinique Médicale Santé+ in Vaudreuil to provide accessible, high-quality care to the community.

À propos de l’auteur
Le Dr Martin Potter est un éminent médecin de famille possédant plus de vingt ans d’expérience tant en milieu rural qu’universitaire urbain. Il a obtenu son diplôme de médecine avec une spécialisation en médecine familiale de l’Université de Montréal en 2002, puis une maîtrise en épidémiologie et biostatistique de l’Université McGill en 2012. En 2019, le Dr Potter a reçu une certification avancée en médecine des toxicomanies du Collège des médecins de famille du Canada. Plus récemment, il a suivi un microprogramme de deuxième cycle en expertise en sciences de la santé, ce qui lui a permis de renforcer encore ses compétences en évaluation indépendante pour expertise médicale.
Tout au long de sa carrière, le Dr Potter a démontré un engagement profond envers les besoins des populations vulnérables, particulièrement dans les domaines de la médecine des toxicomanies et de la santé mentale. Il a établi la première clinique de traitement de substitution aux opioïdes dans la péninsule gaspésienne et a joué un rôle déterminant dans l’élaboration du programme d’études en médecine des toxicomanies pour le programme de médecine familiale de l’Université de Montréal, où il a occupé les postes de professeur adjoint et de directeur adjoint de programme. En 2022, le Dr Potter a fondé sa clinique médicale privée, la Clinique Médicale Santé+, à Vaudreuil pour offrir des soins accessibles et de haute qualité à la communauté.
